Mrs Chris. Firth
At the advanced age of 84 years, the summons came to Mrs Christopher Firth after little more than a week's illness from paraylsis, having survivied here well known husband by sixteen months.
She was a native of Yorkshire, England, nee Elizabeth Humphreys, and was married there in 1862. In 1872 they emigrated to Canada and for a time lived at Hagersville, before coming to Glenelg. Eleven years ago they moved to Durham. A large family of ten children were born to them of who there surive: Harry and (Mary), Mrs Carruthers, Toronto; (Louise) Mrs Turner, Detroit; Alex., Principal of Orangeville school; Chris. E of Niagara Falls; Sam and Ben D. in Vancouver; Wm in Michigan and Miss Kate at home. All the ...ar ones where privileged to be at the funeral. A sister in England and a brother in Iowa also survive.
Mrs Firth was a member of the Anglican church, the rector, Rev. F.G. Hardy conducting the last appropriate services and interment taking place in Trinity church cemetary.
She was an intelligent woman and up to the last was bright and cheery with memory unimpaired. 28 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren survive her.
