Text | William Firth Sr.
Niagara Falls -- Wiliam H. Firth Sr., 89 Linwood Ave., formerly of LaSalle Avenue, died today (Nov. 22, 1976) in Mount St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston, after a short illness. He was born in Beamsville, Ont., and came to this city as a child. He had worked at the former Haeberle Lumber Co. as a cabinet maker for over 50 years prior to retiring 15 years ago. He was the oldest living member of the Carpenter's Local No. 280 where he had been a member for over 65 years. He was an active sports enthusiast and was a member of former Stars and Stripes Baseball team in the early 1920's. He was the husband of Jane Firth who died in 1969. He is survived by two sons, William H. Jr. and Bruce K., and two daughters, Mrs. A.V. (Eleanor Mary) Price and Mrs. George (Jeanne) M. Edwards, all of this city. 10 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at the Rhoney Funeral Home Wednesday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Joseph A. Schuster officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetary. Friends may call 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. Contributions may be made to the Marantha House as a tribute, the family said. |
