Laid at Rest (picture of Christopher Firth) Funeral services for Christopher Firth, above, vice-president of the Haeberle Lumber company, who died suddenly Monday, are being held this afternoon from the home 1158 Haeberle avenue, with Rev Sylvanus S Davies officiating. He was prominent in Masonic and Odd Fellows circles here and had a wide circle of friends. Monday, December 23, 1935 Christopher Firth Passes in His Home After Heart Attack Haeberle Lumber Compnay Vice-President Prominent Mason and Odd Fellow Christopher Firth, vice-president of Haeberle Lumber Company, died at his home, 1158 Haeberle avenue, this evening following a short illness resulting from a heart attack. Funeral services will be held from the home Thursday at 2:30 p.m., the Rev. Sylvanus S. Davies officiating. Mr. Firth was born in York, England, Dec 3, 1866. He came with his parents to Hagersville, Canada, at the age of five yers. In 1890 he came to the United States and entered the employ of the Haeberle Lumber Company. With the exception of three years he had been continuously employed by that company until the time of his death. In 1915 he was made vice-president. Besides his wife Laura H. Firth, he has two sons by a former marriage, Wm H. and Alexander, both of this city also six grandchildren, three sisters Mrs J.W. Wright of Durham Ontario, Mrs. Mary Carothers, Toronto, and Mrs. Bruce Turner, of Detroit, two brothers, Major Alexander Firth of Clinton, Ont., and Benjamin D. of Burnaby, British Columbia. He was a member of Niagara River Lodge F. and A.M. No. 785; Niagara Falls Lodge No 81. I.O.O.F.; Frontier Encampment No. 99; Masonic ...club, No. 132. |
